Já estão abertas as inscrições para a 2ª Etapa do Campeonato Baiano de Jiu-Jitsu que acontecerá nos dias 04 e 05 de Julho de 2009, na Casa de Espetáculo, Sede de Praia do Bahia. Tais inscrições podem ser efetuadas na sede da Federação Baiana de Jiu-Jitsu, Via e-mail e via FAX. As inscrições terminam dia 1º de Julho(Quarta-Feira). Não será possível efetuar inscrições na hora do evento, portanto antecipe-se!!

Promotion to blue belt
On January 13, 2009, Sensei Arvin Widder promoted Ivor, Amir and Dinko for the blue belt. The above mentioned young men have been training actively BJJ for about two and a half years. They showed with their knowledge that they have been deserving to wear the blue belt. The promotion ended with the popular „FAIXADA“. Promoted students were running through the cordon made by colleagues who were hitting them on their backs with their belts.
FAIXADA (literally translation from the Portuguese – belting) is a custom used in Brazil based BJJ clubs, which has been making official the promotion of fighters in higher belts or BJJ grades by their club colleagues.
Sensei Arvin had held a two days long BJJ seminar
On November 2008, Sensei Arvin had held a two days long BJJ seminar in the BJJ club ANAKONDA, led by the trainer Abdulmalik Husic (blue belt). This club was established three years ago. Members of this club have been training very actively, besides financial problems, problems with gym and mats. This club numbers 10 members.
BJJ Anakonda has been the member of the Team Edson Carvalho since 2006.
Arvin Widder won two gold medals
In the period between October 23 and November 04, 2008, Arvin Widder had visited the Team Edson Carvalho in Brazil. Premises and the gym of the team have been located in Porto Da Barra, gorgeous part of Salvador, capital of Bahia, Brazil, only ten meters away from the sand beach of the Atlantic ocean.
Trainer and leader of the Team Edson Carvalho in Brazil Sensei Ricardo Carvalho (BJJ and judo black belt 4th Dan), with the help of his assistants, has been teaching everyday jiu-jitsu, judo and MMA from 06:30a.m until 10.00p.m. Sensei Ricardo, who has been the president of Bahia based BJJ Federation, was the organizer of the open Pan-American championship in Salvador. This championship was attended by more than 1700 competitors. On this extraordinary competition, which has been held every year in different Brazilian cities, Team Edson Carvalho had occupied 5th place in the competition with more than 20 teams.
Sensei Edson Carvalho (BJJ and Judo 5th Dan) had made possible to Arvin this two weeks long visit, trainings and participation on the competition possible and had also helped him financially,
